AG+ now consists of the Special Educational Needs Department and the Behaviour Team. The bringing together of SEND and ag+ Behaviour has led to the formation of a cohesive team, which provides a seamless inclusive continuum of provision to support standards and excellence across the whole school from Year 6 transition through to Year 13. The combined aim of this team is to identify obstacles to pupils’ overall development as well as progress and achievement and offer bespoke solutions in response to individual circumstances.
Alder Grange School is an inclusive mainstream school which successfully caters for children and young people with a range of needs, however on occasions needs may be sufficiently complex that the broad range of support available from ag+ is still insufficient to meet those needs. In these cases working collaboratively with specialists, ag+ will support the transition process to a more appropriate setting. Many of these needs manifest themselves in a variety of ways and require further support and intervention beyond the classroom. Over recent years the school’s responses to these needs, through the on-going development of ag+, have provided a platform for re-engagement, skills development and significantly reduced the need fixed term and permanent exclusions. ag+ is very much a place for fresh starts, a place for reflection time and also self-esteem and confidence building.
