Welcome to Alder Grange
Making the move to secondary school is an exciting one, although it can also be quite daunting to many children. At Alder Grange we understand this and endeavour to do all we can to help support your child, and make this transition as smooth as possible.
I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to Alder Grange School. If you and your child are joining our school community for the first time; welcome to the Alder Grange family! It’s a very strange transition process this year, but we hope we have given you all the information you need. If you haven’t seen it already please watch our video version of the induction meeting.
If there is anything you are still unsure about or if you have any concerns regarding your child’s induction into secondary school, please do not hesitate to contact either Mr Riddell or Mrs Huddart at school.
Email: reception@aldergrange.lancs.sch.uk or call on 01706 223171.
Please see our virtual induction evening video below. Please note that since the making of this video the start date for Year 7 pupils has changed to Thursday 3rd September 2020.

Transition for a child with special educational need (SEN) or disability
Starting high school can be an anxious time for all youngsters and this year is an especially anxious time for many. We want to assure you that those pupils who would ordinarily benefit from our enhanced SEND transition package will still be able to do so. At the moment, we do not know for sure what the government’s plans are for the new year 7 intakes to start high school. We are not sure when this will happen or what it will look like. We will not be able to conduct enhanced transition until we have this information. However, we will be offering enhanced online transition for those pupils who need it.
Additionally, families of pupils who are on the SEND register will be contacted by a member of the SEND team in the coming weeks to discuss any concerns you might have and any support that you feel would be useful.
If you have not heard from us by 10th July, please contact ktaylor@aldergrange.lancs.sch.uk and we will arrange for a phone call.
