The aims of the Enterprise Challenge are:

  1. To develop excellent transferable skills, help raise young people’s aspirations, and create future business talent. These skills will include financial and budgetary skills, an understanding of return on investment, investigating proposals, promotion and marketing, project planning and implementation, working to deadlines, team working, and fundraising and presentation skills.
  2. To develop existing, and build new links between schools, youth groups and the business community in Rossendale.
  3. To raise awareness of the Rossendale Hospice – the range of services it delivers to the Rossendale community, and its need for volunteering and financial support.

All monies raised from the Enterprise Challenge will go to the Rossendale Hospice and will directly benefit patients and carers by providing the nursing care and support they need.

The Challenge

Teams will be given £50 to invest in a fundraising project. The team will be required to increase this amount over a period of time by using their enterprising skills and then donate the proceeds to Rossendale Hospice. The £50 investment should demonstrate that one only needs a small amount to get one’s business dreams off the ground!

Each team will be linked to key influential Business Mentors in Rossendale who will –

  • Facilitate ideas for income generation
  • Mentor the teams in producing business plans and proposals
  • Guide the teams in their final presentations

The final event will be the Awards Ceremony at Alder Grange 6th Form Centre this will take place on Thursday 2nd February 2017.  A panel of judges (to be confirmed) will review the written presentations. Each team will then deliver a one-minute summary presentation to the judges and audience.

The team that has generated the most fundraising will be awarded the Schools & Youth Groups Enterprise Challenge 2016-17 Cup. There will also be a Special Recognition Award for the team that most inspires the judges with their project.
